Markdown - Friend or Foe

A presentation on the pros and cons of Markdown

This presentation was developed for the Lavacon Dublin 2016 conference.

Markdown has become the de facto standard for developers when they need to write documentation. So, where does it fit within your content strategy? Should developers be left to create their own silos of content? Should it be integrated into your overall content strategy? Should developers be encouraged to stop using it, and use something else instead? Should you adopt Markdown for other documents?

In this presentation, you will learn:

  • The capabilities, strengths, and limitations of Markdown, in comparison to other technical documentation standards.
  • How to fit it into your content strategy.
  • Examples of how it can be applied to business documents.
  • Applications that you might not know use it.
